Building Brighter

Building Brighter brings together the energy behind three powerful movements to solve some of our biggest problems today-- the drive to end homelessness, the excitement building around sustainable tiny homes, and the urgent shift to a renewable energy world in order to avert the worst effects of climate change. Joining with a number of other organizations across North America, their goal is to end homelessness by 2035.

Building Brighter supports different styles of builds depending upon the needs of the community they are working with. They have developed stand alone tiny homes for veterans, refurbished old mill space into tiny apartments for single parent families, and supported a container home community that focused on those rebuilding their lives after battling addiction. In 2024 they have teamed with an up and coming sustainable pre-fab builder that will allow for more rapid deployment and the ability to expand to international markets.

Veterans Service Corp

Veteran Service Corps was formed by a core group of the veterans who answered the call of Native American Veterans to stand with them at Standing Rock in December 2016 to oppose violent actions taken by law enforcement and an illegal corporate security firm. The event marked the largest gathering of Veterans since the Bonus Army of 1932 and was covered by every major news outlet.

Today VSC operates a 40 acre ranch in Promise, S.D. that supports recovering veterans and looks to inject sustainable economic development into the local First Nation Cheyenne River Sioux community. They are working hand and hand with the Cheyenne River Sioux Nation in order to bring the Promise Project to fruition.
