STANDING ROCK

New Paradigm Energy was born out of the trials, tribulations, and inspirations of the Veterans movement in support of the Standing Rock Sioux against the Dakota Access Pipeline in 2016. Joshua May (US Army) and Brandon Boucher (US Navy) were part of the effort to lead veterans to Standing Rock and formed a bond through that experience.

RHODE ISLAND

Soon after that, they combined on a joint venture of their companies when they were approached by Rhode Island activist organizations in 2018, and were asked to produce a report and blueprint regarding a transition of the Ocean State that would result in achieving a carbon free economy by 2030. Over the next two years they traveled across the state, spoke with stakeholders, evaluated project sites, presented at community meetings, and produced a detailed blueprint that activist organizations used in order to pressure the state government to move forward on more aggressive climate friendly policies. In the Summer of 2022, based partially on this blueprint, the legislature passed, and the Governor signed, a bill that will bring Rhode Island to carbon neutrality by 2033.

Meet the Team

We are an award-winning Veteran-led team with over 45 years combined experience in renewable energy systems, sustainability, clean-tech, and project management.

  • Joshua May, Co-Founder & CEO

    Joshua is an entrepreneur and executive with twenty one years of leadership in sustainability, renewable energy, and cllimate change mitigation. With a military and business leadership background, his passion and core mission became the tackling of the climate emergency and building a more sustainable future in 2000. He was part of the leadership team that brought the first solar leasing program to the US market, and put solar on 40,000 roofs in its first two years of operation; he has advanced the acceptance of small wind and the Unified Energy Generation solution in the renewable energy sector; he has led Veterans to support frontline communities such as Standing Rock; and he was awarded the Green Ring Award from former Vice President and Nobel Laureate Al Gore in recognition of outstanding work towards solving the climate crisis.

  • Brandon Boucher, Co-Founder & CTO

    Brandon leads the R&D and Engineering teams within New Paradigm Energy. He most recently worked with Verizon as a field engineer where he identified locations where they could reduce HVAC and Power Consumption by replacing outdated equipment with newer more efficient systems. With his 10 years of service in the U.S. Navy, he brings a unique perspective on the need for decentralized energy resources to a robust team of people looking to make the world a better place. He has a B.S. in Engineering Science from the University of Massachusetts Lowell.

  • Stephen Lippa, Operations Advisor

    Stephen is an operations executive and Geomorphologist. With an academic foundation in ocean systems science, his passion, curiosity, and enthusiasm for innovation and business led him into a variety of executive leadership positions spanning several sectors inside for-profit, charitable, and public organizations. His career includes experience in Canada, the USA, South America, and Africa. Stephen serves as the Operations Advisor for New Paradigm Energy.

  • Johnny Blackfield, Finance Advisor

    Johnny is a finance, strategy and operations executive with over 14 years of experience in Financial Management and Reporting, Financial and Business Case Modelling, Performance Measurement and Analytics, Financial Statement Analysis, M&A Due Diligence, Operational Performance Enhancement and Digital Transformation in various industries. He has worked as a financial auditor with PwC, and as a CFO/COO consultant to numerous start-ups, and SMBs. Johnny has developed broad expertise in emerging technologies such as cleantech, blockchain and AI. Johnny holds a Masters degree in Management and Accounting (MMPA), a Masters degree in Engineering, and is a CPA/CA Charter holder. Johnny serves as the Financial Advisor for New Paradigm Energy.

  • Leslie Jaffrey, Marketing Advisor

    Leslie is an expert in business development, and has led global teams of dozens, building sub-billion dollar pipelines. Leslie is focused on accelerating profitability and leading businesses to quick, sustainable growth through systems and cultures that scale. Leslie serves as the Business Development Advisor for New Paradigm Energy. Leslie is a leading business development expert, and has led global teams of dozens, building sub-billion dollar pipelines. Leslie is focused on accelerating profitability and leading businesses to quick, sustainable growth through systems and cultures that scale. She serves as the Business Development Advisor for New Paradigm Energy and has developed new markets for our distributor product lines as well as innovative commercial partnership opportunities for our current in-house technologies that are in the late stage R&D process.
